9-Days Medicine Retreat with Noke Koi Tribe

December 13th – 21st 2025

ANCESTRAL WISDOM AND MEDICINE RETREAT WITH NOKE KOÏ

Join us for a transformative 9-day journey at our center Amazon Soma in Peru, Iquitos with the Noke Koï, where you will immerse yourself in their sacred traditions and ancestral wisdom.

This retreat is designed for those who hold deep respect for traditional practices and the profound Amazonian shamanic heritage. In an era of rapid development, ancient cultures and knowledge are vanishing at an alarming rate, unable to keep pace with a modern world that often disrupts nature’s sacred rhythm. Cultural appropriation and devaluation pose a grave threat to many indigenous communities, yet by pausing to listen and learn directly from the source, we become true advocates, amplifying authentic voices that echo far beyond the majestic forests of the Amazon.

This is an opportunity to experience traditional medicine work and learn about the Noke Koi culture under the guidance of Pajé Sahi Kamãnawa and Shapo Kamanawa coming from Brazil (Acre) to share with us their cultural heritage.

The retreat includes:

• Kambô Sessions
• Ayahuasca Preparation and Ceremonies
• Cultural Immersion
• Rapé Workshop
• Flower Baths
• Spiritual Song Circles
• Traditional Face Painting

The Noke Koï People

The Noke Koï, meaning “true people” or “real people” in their native language, Noke Vana, are an indigenous group from the Pano linguistic family, residing in the Acre region of Brazil along rivers such as Gregório and Campinas. Rejecting the colonizer-imposed name “Katukina,” they proudly embrace their authentic identity as Noke Koï or Noke Kuin. Their population has grown significantly, from fewer than 200 in 1977 to nearly 600 by 2008, yet they face challenges such as precarious housing, food insecurity due to deforestation, and external threats from territorial invasions and illegal extractive activities. Despite these pressures, the Noke Koï remain steadfast in preserving their language, culture, and spiritual practices.

PAJÉ SAHI KAMÃNAWA NOKE KOI

Pajé Sahi Kamãnawa Noke Koi, a revered son of the jungle, serves as a guardian of the Noke Koï’s ancestral knowledge. His spiritual journey began in 2010 when he was called to serve his community and those seeking healing, balance, and spiritual reconnection through sacred medicines. Chosen by the spirit of the jungle, he dedicates himself to the use of Uni (Ayahuasca) and Rapé, medicines that bridge human essence with Mother Earth’s teachings. Every ritual he conducts is guided by ancestral spirits, performed with deep respect and responsibility.

His spiritual work centers on two primary methods:

• Prayer in the Pot: A ritual involving sacred chants and blessings in water to purify and transform energies, connecting participants with their inner essence.

• Individual Prayer and Personalized Attention: Offering unique, deeply focused care to each person, providing physical, mental, and spiritual cleansing.

Throughout his journey, Pajé Sahi Kamãnawa Noke Koi has maintained an unwavering commitment to healing, with no patient under his care ever harmed, demonstrating the transformative power of sacred medicines and prayers. His purpose is to serve with love, dedication, and humility, protecting and sharing the ancestral wisdom received from the jungle’s true masters.

SHAPO KAMANAWA

Shapo Kamanawa, son of Chief Shere and a young leader of his village, began his journey with sacred medicine in 2014 alongside Pajé Rumeya within his community. Over the years, he has deepened his learning with the forest’s true masters: shamans, healers, and elders. Through Uni (Ayahuasca), he has accessed his people’s ancestral knowledge, becoming a musician, guardian of sacred prayers, and a performer of traditional songs (saiti).

Since 2016, Shapo Kamanawa has shared his village’s culture in major Brazilian cities such as São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, and Fortaleza, bringing music, prayers, and ancestral knowledge as a form of healing and reconnection with Mother Earth. His mission expanded globally in 2017 and 2018, sharing the forest’s message in various countries. In 2020, he visited Chile and Bolivia, strengthening alliances, and in 2024, he brought the forest’s wisdom to Europe, including France, Spain, Germany, and Switzerland. Guided by the spirit of the forest, Shapo Kamanawa carries out his work with respect, responsibility, and dedication to healing and preserving the sacred wisdom of indigenous peoples.

The Kambo/Kampo: The Sacred Medicine of the Jungle and Its Importance for the Noke Koi People

Kambo, known as the “Medicine of the Jungle,” is far more than a mere medicinal practice for the Noke Koi people: it represents a sacred connection with the spirits of nature and ancestral knowledge passed down for thousands of years. This medicine, derived from the secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor tree frog, holds a central role in the spiritual, physical, and communal life of the Noke Koi.

For the Noke Koi, Kambo is a powerful tool for purification and balance. It helps eliminate negative energies they call “panema,” a burden that causes spiritual, physical, and emotional blockages. Additionally, it works on the physical body by boosting the immune system, relieving illnesses, and promoting overall well-being. Beyond its medicinal use, Kambo strengthens the connection with the jungle, serving as a bridge between humans and the spirits that inhabit it.

The Noke Koi are not merely users of Kambo; they are its true guardians. As protectors of this medicine, their responsibility extends beyond its use to a deep respect for the animals and ecosystems from which it comes. The collection of Kambo is carried out with complete reverence, ensuring that the frogs suffer no harm, following values of gratitude and reciprocity with nature.

The shamans, elders, and spiritual leaders of the Noke Koi people have dedicated their lives to preserving the teachings of their ancestors, guiding the use of Kambo with a clear purpose: to heal, protect, and connect. They have passed down their knowledge from generation to generation, ensuring that the rituals associated with Kambo are conducted with authenticity, respect, and sacred commitment.

Today, in a world where interest in ancestral medicines has grown, the Noke Koi people emphasize the importance of honoring the roots of Kambo. They insist that its use must be accompanied by humility and respect, understanding that it is not a mere tool but an ancestral treasure that requires ethical and responsible protection and sharing.

For the Noke Koi, Kambo is more than a remedy: it is a living symbol of their connection with the Amazon rainforest, their identity as a people, and their mission to bring healing and wisdom to the world, always in harmony with nature and their rich spiritual tradition.
